Dance Display - Blackheath Halls – 11th March 2017
Dacre Morris
Dacre Morris is a women’s morris side based in Lewisham, South East London. We perform traditional morris dances mostly from the Cotswold area of England. We perform mainly at local pubs, fetes, festivals and on Days of Dance with other morris sides and are always looking for new members. For more information or to contact us visit our website.
Wolf’s Head and Vixen Morris, formed in 1995 in Rochester, Kent, were one of the first directly ‘GOTHIC’ influenced Border Morris teams in the UK and are the only Morris dancers to wear an ALL BLACK kit. Wolf’s Head and Vixen Morris are a Border Morris side. This is the most primitive and arguably the most exhilarating of the Morris dancing styles. It is traditionally distinguished by the tattered rag jackets, sticks and blackened faces of the dancers. Wolf’s Head (the men) and Vixen (the women) go one further by dressing all in black. We dance to a variety of traditional and original tunes, with a Gothic feel and a mesmerising drumbeat.
